terms & privacy · 條款與隱私

Plain language ·
eight short clausesno legal traps, no fine print fishing for permissions you didn't grant.

Jinko is a small atelier, not a corporation. Our terms are written in plain English — each clause, one at a time: ordering, cancellation, returns, privacy, disputes. Reading time is around six minutes.

Please read before ordering. Placing an order is taken as agreement to all eight clauses. If anything reads strangely, ask us on the contact page — we'll answer in the same plain register.

○ 01
order placed

30 % deposit makes the order

Once you've chosen cloth, silhouette, and size in the configurator, a 30 % deposit puts the order in the queue. Within three days you receive a confirmation email with the production schedule, projected ship date, and the date the balance is due.

If no confirmation arrives within three days, check spam first, then email atelier@jinkocloths.jp. Until the deposit clears, the order is not considered placed.

○ 02
cancellation

Full refund within thirty-six hours

Within thirty-six hours of placing an order, email atelier@jinkocloths.jp to cancel — full deposit refunded within five business days, same route.

Between thirty-six hours and the start of cutting (usually day seven), you can still cancel, but the deposit is forfeit — the cloth has been reserved and the atelier scheduled.

Once cutting begins, cancellation is no longer possible: the cloth has been altered.

○ 03
returns

Alterable, not returnable

Semi-order garments are cut to your measurements and cloth choice. Each jacket is one of one, so the seven-day return window common to ready-to-wear does not apply.

If something is off on arrival — shoulder, sleeve, length, waist, neck — reach the atelier within fourteen days. We alter once at no charge, including return DHL.

If there is an obvious defect — open seam, uneven dye, button falls off — we'll either refund in full or remake at our cost. Your call.

○ 04
balance

Due three days before dispatch

When the jacket is finished, inspected, and ready to leave, you receive an email with the dispatch date and a payment link for the remaining 70 %. Please settle within three business days.

If the balance is not settled, dispatch is delayed. After one week, a storage fee (US$ 8 per week) applies.

○ 05
personal data

Only what tailoring needs

We collect: name, email, shipping address, phone, body measurements (seven to seventeen points), and payment information (handled by Stripe; no card data is stored by the atelier).

We do not collect: national ID, date of birth (unless you volunteer it), browsing behaviour, device fingerprints, third-party tracking pixels.

Your measurements live on an internal atelier database and are used only to inform future orders and alterations. Request deletion at any time by email.

○ 06
third parties

Three vendors · no others

We share necessary data with three third parties only:

  • Stripe — payment processing (name, card, amount)
  • DHL Express — international shipping (name, address, phone)
  • Mailchimp — order-related email (email, name, order ID)

We do not sell data, do not share with ad platforms, do not pass to partner brands.

○ 07
intellectual property

Cloth belongs to the mill · patterns to the atelier

Cloth photographs and specifications on this site are licensed from the original mills (Loro Piana, Drapers, Vitale Barberis, etc.) — not for commercial download.

Our three archetype patterns (Il Conte, M-65, Bomber) are original to the atelier and registered under the Japanese Design Act. Not for reproduction.

The "JINKO 珍光" wordmark, seal, and lining label are registered trademarks. Not for use on unlicensed goods.

○ 08
disputes

Conversation first · law last

If a dispute arises, please write to atelier@jinkocloths.jp first. We reply within seven days with a written response and a proposed resolution.

If we cannot agree within seven days, the matter is settled under Japanese law, with the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance. Customers in Taiwan may alternatively bring action in the Taipei District Court; the atelier consents to that jurisdiction.

As of these terms, the atelier has been operating for two years and has had no customer complaint escalate to litigation.

Still have a question ·
write to us about it

Terms are meant to be clear to both sides — not to trap you. If anything reads strangely, feels unfair, or just needs confirmation, write to us.
