One jacket ·
worn for a decadea jacket made well should last a decade — here is how we keep it that way
Jackets are made to be worn, and wear is inevitable. Our alterations and care programme is built around the idea of wearing one well, for a long time.
first alteration
One free alteration
Within fourteen days of delivery, if anything is off — shoulder line, sleeve length, body length, waist, neck — the atelier arranges DHL pickup, alters, and ships back, all at no charge. Turnaround is two to three weeks.
Please attach front, side, and back photos to your order page along with a short note. We'll reply whether a return is needed, or whether a local tailor can take care of it.
long-term alterations
Bodies change · we follow
A weight change of five kilograms either way and your jacket no longer fits. From the second year onwards, we offer major alterations at cost:
- Waist out or in · US$ 60
- Sleeve length (original cuff retained) · US$ 40
- Shoulder reset · US$ 105
- Body shortened · US$ 40
Non-structural repairs — loose stitching, replacement buttons, lining, pocket bag — are free for life.
everyday care
Don't over-dry-clean
A wool jacket needs dry-cleaning once or twice a season — no more. After wearing, brush the nap with a horsehair brush and air it on a wide wooden hanger for twenty-four hours. That is enough most of the time.
Frequent dry-cleaning makes the wool brittle and stiffens the canvas. Our rule of thumb: one cleaning for every ten wears.
- Horsehair brush · after each wear
- Air dry · twenty-four hours
- Wide wooden hanger
- Dry clean · once or twice per season
seasonal storage
Putting winter away
Heavy wool jackets retire at the end of April. Before storing, dry-clean once — even if the garment looks clean. Perspiration and skin oils oxidise into the cloth over the warm months and become impossible to remove.
Store in a breathable garment bag (never plastic) with cedar blocks or lavender to deter moths. Air it out for an hour every two months.
accidents
Holes, burns, stains
A small hole in wool is usually mendable. Send us a photo — every jacket leaves the atelier with a piece of the original cloth (around 30 × 30 cm) tucked into its box, kept for repairs exactly like this. Reweaving is usually cheaper than you'd guess.
If damage is beyond repair, we provide an honest assessment and salvage the metal hardware for use on a future commission.
